Watts was born 28 September 1968. When her family moved to Australia, Watts
made her film debut there with For Love Alone (1986). Then she appeared in
three television shows: Hey Dad.. (1990), Brides of Christ(91) and Home and
Away (91) as well as Flirting (1991). Watts relocated to America in 2000. She
initially struggled as an actress. In reality, she was only able to get tiny
roles in films, before becoming an aspiring actress in David Lynch's Mulholland
Drive psychological thriller. Watts became famous internationally through this
part. Watts was later a gruelling journalist in the remake of The Ring (2002).
In her role as a grieving mother in the Alejandro film 21 Grams, she was
nominated to win an Academy Award for Best Actress. Watts's profile continued
to rise with her leading roles in I Heart Huckabees (2004), King Kong (2005),
Eastern Promises (2007) as well as The International (2009). Watts was
nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress for her performance in The
Impossible (2012) as Maria Bennett. She starred in films like Birdman (2014)
St. Vincent (2014) and While We're Young (2015). Watts was also a prominent
character in blockbuster movies, appearing in Divergent (2015)-2016.
